great product Posted: 18 August 2010
this is the best ipod I have ever bought, fits lots of music and movies on it. I ordered this when I was in Afghanistan with no problems getting it. If you are somewhere similar I highly recommend this with one of those AA battery chargers for power when you simply cant get any.
The most reliable iPod yet Posted: 24 February 2009
I have had this iPod for 9 months now, and it has been faultless, in contrast to previous iPod Photos. It also has a very much better screen which is remarkably scratch proof to see photos, while the sound quality is fully acceptable using Apple Lossless files of my own CDs. It also has more than enough capacity: about 7000 songs in Apple Lossless format. I do not use any other facilities so cannot comment. If I were wanting to buy one now I might balk at the price increase of more than 50% in a year, but that would be my only gripe.
Its as good as they say! Posted: 21 January 2009
I've just reluctantly bought one of these after my old 60gb Toshiba Gigabeat finally gave up the ghost, i was looking round for another player with a large capacity hard drive and the ipod was the only one i could find having not originally been impressed with the ipods in the past but i have to say ive been very surprised as to how good this player actually is! (i know millions of people cant be wrong but its purely a matter of taste, sorry!)
Having plugged it into my usb port it registers about 148gb, you expect to loose a bit of any hard drive space once it has been factory formatted, once you get online and download the latest itunes its a piece of cake to sinc up (itunes does take a fair bit of your pc resources up mind, even with 2gb of ram installed!) and i transferred about 85gb of music in about 4-5hrs, my gigabeat you had to leave on almost all day! Anything thats in wma format itunes automatically converts to mp3 (probably where it hogs the resources!) As with all ipods searching for tracks is a sinch especially with the new search function. It really is top notch mp3 player.
So having to 'bite the bullet' and buy an ipod, i can say im glad i did! Hope this helps.
Ignore reviews regarding sound quality Posted: 16 January 2009
I have had this ipod for quite a few months now. At first i was hesitant to spend so much based on the reviews regarding sound volume and quality. However as i have had the 80gb 5th gen ipod i decided to trust in Apple and go for it and upgrade to the 160gb classic. I am very pleased with the sound quality and volume (Very rarely do i have to turn it up above 3/4 volume). I am also well pleased with the battery life, listening to music i find i am getting about 30 hours playback between charges! Also the ipod is very robust, having dropped on the footpath it sustained no damage at all. (i dropped my Creative Zen about 2 foot onto a thick carpet and it broke the hard drive). Overall a very good product (Though things like coverflow and games for me are a waste of space as they are features i don't use)
